PERSLEY CROFT BESS
-
49.9
expected capacity MW
PROJECT DETAILS
The proposed BESS will be able to store and release energy from the electricity network. It will have a storage capacity of up to 49.9MW megawatts (MW) and provide energy security to the local grid during times of peak demand.
The land currently supports a former piggery on the outskirts of Persley. The old farm buildings and silos visible from the A92 are in poor condition. The site is bound by fields to the north and west, the A92 to the east, and a scrap metal yard to the south.
The current buildings having fallen into a state of disrepair and have attracted vandalism. The proposal will result in the redevelopment of the site. With improved planting and screening, it is expected to improve the visual outlook over the site from the Parkway that runs alongside.
The community were very engaged during the consultation phase. We were able to take on board the feedback received and implement some changes to the project.
Persley Croft BESS was granted planning permission in August 2024.
